Welcome

I write The Lantern. I am an executive coach with over 30 years of experience training, facilitating and coaching. I am an MCC (Master Certified Coach) of the ICF (International Coaching Federation). I am the CEO of Empowered Learning LLP, based in Pune, India.

I’ve worked previously in industrial engineering with Philips, selling high-tech tooling systems with Sandvik AB, delivered sales consulting and training programs with Mercuri International, and helped set up and run the centre for executive education at the Indian School of Business at Hyderabad.

Since 2004, I have run my business focusing on developing leaders and high-performing teams. My areas of expertise are coaching leaders, sales management, decision making, collaboration and critical thinking. I work with cross-functional teams, managers and executives at the VP level and the C-suite. I have worked with Shell, PwC, Cap Gemini, Goldman Sachs, SKF and Mahindra to name a few large multinational companies in India and overseas.

What is The Lantern?

The Lantern is a newsletter on performance and personal growth. In other words, how to adapt one’s thinking and behaviour to achieve the best outcomes.

Every month, The Lantern explores the connection between the way you think and the way you behave; to help you make better decisions and communicate thoughtfully and effectively.

I have had a ringside view over the years, as a global coach and facilitator, helping salespeople, leaders and teams be more productive. What I have learnt — We need other people to succeed and we are limited only by what we see.

‘The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes’.  - Marcel Proust.

You will receive one original article every fortnight covering ideas, methods, frameworks and stories on how thinking influences behaviour. I also curate content from the best in the world who have understood all this much better than me —articles, podcasts, blogs, videos and book recommendations.

If you haven’t already, I suggest you get started with some of these posts:

What makes The Lantern different?

Focus on doing.

Over the years of working with high performers, I have observed a common pattern;  doers are whole-brained, situationally flexible in the way they think and coach-like in the way they lead and operate.

I will share the strategies and nuances of the coaching approach and what it means to be whole-brained so that you can get more done, make better decisions and build stronger relationships.

My Work

I have worked with large multinational companies and family-owned businesses in India and overseas.  My focus is on implementation and the application of the concepts I teach to real-world problems.

Every 4 years, I jointly present a paper with the client,  based on the work that I have done with the client, at the ATD (Association of Talent Development) in the US - the world’s largest event in learning and development. This is to motivate me to keep raising the bar for my work. I list some of my work below.

What drives me is the desire to achieve mastery — the itch to keep improving at something that’s important to me; autonomy — the desire to be self-directed; and purpose — the sense that what we do produces something transcendent, brilliantly articulated by Daniel Pink in his book Drive.

Coaching

I believe everyone can develop coaching skills and presence-a heightened awareness of self. While I have coached senior executives at the VP level and C-level at Dun and Bradstreet, Cap Gemini, Mahindra and State Bank of India and business owners, my goal is to make readers aware of how a coaching mindset can help in engaging better with people and managing situations more effectively.

If you are interested in being coached, please complete a short Google form (by clicking the button below) and I will get back to you to set up a call for an initial assessment and one no-obligation coaching session.

Testimonials

“A versatile coach and an adaptable business-partner, Prasad's engagement with me and my management team will always be cherished for its long-lasting impact on our collective thinking on team dynamics. Prasad helped me give direction to our senior and mid-levels L&D efforts - aligning leadership styles-skills & roles and equipping our second level of management with superior customer-sensitivity. His programs administering HBDI®  and facilitating its impact analyses in a growing (and fast-changing) organization was superb in its execution and value delivered. Prasad's unique gift in simplifying concepts for practical understanding makes his programs very engaging to both 'the heart & the head' of the organization. His modesty and simplicity masks an astonishingly creative thinker and someone who can understand complex organization & business dynamics quickly. Prasad is a terrific value-add to any learning & development initiative. I hope to be in touch and benefit from his wisdom! '“ — Arun Kumar NT, CMD & Head of Innovation | Board Director | Digital Technology, Global Business Services

“Wow!!! Prasad is superb!! His styles are unique and his creative solutions to leadership issues are so very effective!!! It has always been a great pleasure listening to Prasad.. he set fire to our imagination on any business growth - leading to the much-fetched results. With his immense expertise, Prasad is an asset to any progressive organisation.” — Sadashib Padhee, CHRO with Kirloskar Pneumatic, a leading Indian MNC.

“I  was unusually suspicious when I was mentored by Prasad for my ACC accreditation. Here was this person who I didn`t know at all, and he was not associated with any training institute. But I continued in good faith since he is one of the few Master Coaches in India. My fears were unfounded. Prasad is a connected and insightful mentor. He brought some amazing insights from his own experiences to the classroom. He was also open enough to allow us a peek into his way of working. That was a turning point in my education, according to me - to be privy to a master at work. He could also help us drop our apprehensions regarding our coaching abilities. I would recommend him to anyone keen on pursuing further levels of coach training.”— Aparna Apte Gupta Art-based facilitator, Executive Coach (ICF)
